My Interview with Marilyn Monroe

First of all, I have to tell you that's with immense pleasure that I get to do this interview with you. But first things first, let's get to the basics.

MM: Oh, I'm so faltered (giggles). Just kidding, I'm really flattered. I'm sure it will be a delight!

My first question: What's your name?

Hmmm.... (coughing) Marilyn Monroe

Me: No, I mean your real name... the one that they gave you, that is on your birth certificate.

MM: Norma Jean

Me: Don't you have a family name?

MM: Well, that I can choose from, sure, I've got plenty, since I was adopted by so many families, before I got married and then became a movie star.

Me: I mean, from your birth certificate.

MM: Mortenson but then I took my mother's family name, Monroe. You know, my mother was mentally unstable and she struggled to live as a single mother after her divorce. Actually, I wasn't sure who my father was either, but I am pretty sure Clark Gable would be perfect for that role!

Me: Precisely. Doesn't that help you have an identity crisis in the middle of the way?

MM: Sure, Ma' am, but I am a Gemini, I would get an evil twin in a way or another. (giggles) But even my evil side made me go visit mom at the hospital as much as I could.

Me: And with all that, being adopted and all the struggles you had to face during a period of time when you most need support. I mean, you shouldn't be having to deal with problems like this at such a tender age. So how was your childhood like?

MM: Go figure. It was not that tough. But that is a tender question for me and I really don't want to talk about it. Let's just say it was tender.

Me: Sure. My bad.

MM: No, it's just that you are touching some sensitive parts that I don't want to go back to. If I don't have to, why bother now?

Me: You are totally right, Miss Monroe and I apologize for that.

MM: No worries, It is your job after all. Are you a Library lover and a liberal writer with Ascending sign in Libra who loves justice and wants to know the truth, the whole truth and nothing but the truth?

Me: Yes, I do.

MM: So do I. But some truths are better left alone.

Me. Perfectly fine with that statement. Let´s move on. Did you have any friends, and I mean, real friends to count on in your life as a mega star?

MM: You know, diamonds are a girl's best friend.

Me: So I will just assume that you had some good friends who were worth just like the diamonds you mentioned.

MM: Hmmm, yeah, you can say that.

Me: I am not going to recur along your career because everyone knows about that already. But I have one more question that I am sure is something everyone being your fan or not would love to know. What happened that dreadful night and what (or who) killed you? I smell a rat... Actually, a rat pack!

MM: No, I don't know what you meant by rats, but, no, it was not the mafia. Or was it? If they were also involved, I really don't know. All that I remember it was being on the phone, talking to a friend of mine and then hearing some footsteps-And then all went black... But I am pretty sure you pulled some strings in your book. Congratulations!

Me: Oh thank you, that really means the world to me that you like my book.

MM: I love it. It shows so much more than I would ever imagine when I chose you to be my ghostwriter.

Me: I was not a ghostwriter, only sensitive enough to capture what you wanted to reveal. After all, YOU are the ghost here.

MM: That's right.

Me: Thank you so much for taking the time to talking through some pretty heavy stuff. I know you must be rather busy in the after life. BTW, how is that??

MM: A delight, my friend... a delight in the light! (giggles)

Me: Now, I'm the one shinning like a diamond. I'm touched. You called me friend!

The Mysterious Murder of Marilyn Monroe

My most recent book that I just published on Amazon (now available on print at lulu and soon in Barnes & Noble and other major retailers) The Mysterious Murder of Marilyn Monroe has a very sensitive topic for it touches us even today, about the theory of conspiracies that remains until nowadays. I also talk about the assassination of JFK and many more issues that we inherited with the cold war. So I was afraid to let it out all open. At that time I had completely stopped writing and that had nothing to do with writer's block. I was simply denying the fact that I was too afraid of letting the matters being out in the light. My father then asked me why I stopped writing, and I gave him many excuses... but he knows me too well, then he said, " You are afraid of what people may think of it.' That answer touched me too deep. But I was still in denial. I couldn't figure out exactly why I had stopped with the book. So I started to write other books with much more "light" subjects, which was pretty fine since some sold right after I published them. It was after all these years that I felt comfortable to give the finishing strokes to that book and there it is, ready and in many people's lives now. I'm so glad I finally gave up and listened to my father's wise words. He knew it more than I did. I was afraid of what people might think of the things I wrote in that book. But now I'm ok with it, for now I know if I didn't put this book out there no one would ever do, and people wouldn't know about the things I say there. I never used a pseudonym, never felt like it, only made a pun such as "Ana Bowlova", for sometimes I feel like I love to bow (bow lover) to make reverence to life and also bowl over things... go figure. This book Iḿ talking about had many spins and turns until I felt ok to go push forward to let it breath and see the light, "The Mysterious Murder of Marilyn Monroe" that I have written in the end of 2011, it was a project that I was developing with another Mystery/Suspense writer in a writing workshop and we had to talk about the things that happened fifty years before the next year and that it would be the year 1962. So in my research I found out about so many things that happened then, and it was a revolution going on in my head. Many things that were not revealed or were never really being very investigated, that was all too fishy. So I divided the topics and decided to share ideas to write the book. But for some odd reason (that I can only conceive it now as a type of fear) a sensation of letting people read my own thoughts that froze me for about three years. I wrote many other books in the meantime, there was not actually a gap there, so I cannot even call this a writer´s block (I actually have no idea what it means, for me ideas pop up in my head all the time) so that was not even the problem of finishing the book. The thing was much deeper. It was that feeling of being rejected that I told you above, I was simply afraid of what people would think of my words, my work, the things that I was revealing there. But hey, it was just in the end of 2014 when I decided to give it the last strokes and finish it and voila:

The Call (Guess Who's On The Line?)

A teenage girl wakes up after a call over her cellular phone by a stranger. That person grabs her attention saying things that only she could know. So she keeps the whole day grabbed over the phone while she tries to keep people she loves out of trouble. And that's when she gets into a lot of trouble. All the twenty-four hour ordeal ends with a birthday surprise for her. Was that all a prank from a friend or was it all true? Who's calling her? Who's on the line? The story takes place in the streets of San Francisco. The main character, Jennifer, talks to a ghost... on her cell. In fact she doesn't really know who she's talking with, but she does believe in everything the ghost says. Spooky! But all that only reflects her inability to fit in anywhere in the world. Also she struggles with her parents divorcing. So she is also looking for a place she can call home only to find out her home is no where near she thought it would be.

I'm so thrilled how the script ended up to be that I published my screenplay with no doubt this will turn out to be a very good story to tell in the big screen. This is a very contemporary piece, I took a commom device (a cellular) to tell the story for it refers to all of us, on how someone manage to get things done when dealing with so many distractions nowadays. And that comes with an advice: Having ADD syndrome since I was a child, and hardly listenning to what teachers would say in class to then getting bad notes in the end of the month made me learn it in the hard way. Discipline, my friend, discipline. And a lot of good will!! After an hour or so, you will feel relieved to how much you've advanced. That's a great reward at the end of the day you know a little was accomplished. Baby Steps Work Wonders!!

The last ScriptFrenzy I worked on the adaptation of my NaNoWriMo "The Pierrot's Love", which was quite an interesting experience, actually. I tried to maintain the rhythm of the story while I kept the word count in balance with the pages from the original manuscript and I finished like a clock, right on time for a tea. But then it was not as fun as it was this year when I really grabbed a piece of nothingness, well, not really nothingness as much as a small tiny little idea I had in the back of my head to turn it into a script. That sort of no man's land and you not knowing where it will turn out to be next gave me such a thrill that I couldn't stop thinking of the story and what would come next. That kept me going all the way and I rather finished the 100 pages almost half of the time I took on my first script adventure. So, characters may change, views will definitely do the work, and the story would give you the jest as much as you allow it to flow. Hope you have a blast with my script... well, I did!

Can't wait to make this one as a feature movie...would love to see the faces of the audience holding on to their chairs with their hairs up only trying to figure out who's on the line!!
